What does sides are proportional mean?

• Corresponding sides are proportional to one another, a/p = b/q = c/r

• Corresponding sides have the same ratio, a : p = b : q = c : r

Question 1 2 similar right triangles have legs with a ratio of 2:3. One triangle has a hypotenuse of 5. What's the hypotenuse of the smaller triangle?

2/3 = 5/x, x = 15/2

Question 2 2 similar triangles have perimeters in a ratio of 2:1. The leg lengths of the larger triangle are 3, 4, 5. What is the perimeter of the smaller triangle?
