• Probability = Total number of combinations where the scenario WILL occur / Total number of combinations


Tips

• Count the values for the numerator and denominator or use the equation to solve the problem.

PRACTICE PROBLEMS

Question 1 What's the probability that a shirt will be selected from all of the clothes that one owns. The clothes include 5 shirts, 8 pants, and 3 socks.


-- Answer -- 5/120

Combinations of clothes = 5 shirts * 8 pants * 3 socks = 120

Probability of choosing a shirt = 5 / 120
